解读： 在学习定语从句时，我发现，“介词+关系代词which/ whom”的使用是学生学习的难点，也是高考命题的热点。许多学生反映说，不知道如何确定关系代词which/ whom前面的介词。下面介绍一个办法，即：一先，二动，三理解。现结合高考题作一简析：

一先，即根据先行词来确定介词。例如：

　　The pencil ______he used tois broken.(NMET湖北卷)

　　A. by which B. with which C. in which D. through which

　　该题答案是B。 用什么工具，用介词with。

二动，即根据定语从句中的谓语动词来确定介词。例如：

　　In the dark street there was not a single person _______she could turn for help.(NMET浙江卷)

　　A. to whom B. who C. from whom D. that

　　该题答案是A。 “求助于某人”是turn to sb. for help。

三理解，即根据定语从句的意义来确定介词。例如：

　　In the office I never seem to have time until after 5:30,______ many people have gone home.(NMETIII)

　　A. whose time B. that C. on which D. by which time

　　该题答案是D。 定语从句句意为“到那时，许多人已经回家了。”故用介词by(到……那时为止)。该题易误选C。“几点钟”前应用at。
